Monday, November 24, 2003 - Galactic Civilizations: Altarian Prophecy Availability

There has been some question about availability of the expansion pack.

Just to that we're clear: The premium expansion pack will initially only be available directly from GalCiv.com. It won't be at the stores.

Our publisher, Strategy First, has elected not to publish the expansion pack stand-alone. It is possible that at some future date that a combined "Platinum" edition will be released which is what Strategy First has done on some of the other titles they publish. But that would obviously be a bundling of the full game and the expansion pack together.

The expansion pack will be released in February but we are taking pre-orders for it now. Since the game won't be available at retail, we are using the pre-orders to determine the level of interest in the expansion pack (since some people won't purchase the expansion pack if it's not at the store).

Okay, I usually wait to buy the game in stores, but I guess that might be out of the question here. I'm not at home for the Holidays but I'll pre-order it first thing when I get home. So don't close the polls until I can order it!

i'll buy it when it comes outand see what happens. its a campagin for a strategy game after all and i am not sure how well it would be implemented. in addition my credit card is in the shot....

As a general rule, I never buy a game without reading at least a few reviews from people who have actually played it. If it's got a lot of neat stuff that I like then there's a good chance I'll buy it, but I'll never pre-order it. (And if I was one of those people who was getting Drengin.net primarily for the expansion then I would definately wait untill it was out. No good spending part of my 18 months waiting and then missing out on the patches that came out after my subscription expires.)
